Saint of the Day
St. Patrick
Captured by raiders as a teenager, Patrick spent six years as a slave in Ireland before escaping home to Britain. Years later he returned to the very people who had enslaved him, this time as a bishop carrying the Gospel. He spent decades walking the island, baptizing, ordaining clergy, and forming communities of faith. He is remembered as the apostle of Ireland and a model of forgiveness turned into mission.

First Time?
You're welcome here.
Here are a few things we tell everyone before their first Sunday, so nothing feels unfamiliar.
- Can I receive Communion?
- Holy Communion is for Catholics in a state of grace who are prepared to receive it, but you are welcome to come forward with your arms crossed for a blessing, or simply stay in your pew and pray with us.
- How do I become Catholic?
- The first step towards becoming a Catholic starts with a meeting with our priest. Please call the front office or go in person to schedule a meeting.
- What should I wear?
- There is no strict dress code for attending Mass, but we encourage you to dress respectfully, as the Holy Mass is a time of sacred worship.
- I'm bringing kids.
- Please do. Little ones are always welcome. The Kenny Room, located to the right of the main entrance, is available if you fear that they will be disruptive.

Deacon John invites us to join him in prayer for our downtown homeless community on Tuesday, August 4 at 2:30 PM at the Salvation Army Centre of Hope, 1381 Cedar St. The Taize format will pray for the homeless, those struggling with addiction, and their families. All are welcome.
Pastoral Care Training: nine free online sessions, Saturdays 9:30 AM to noon PST, Sept. 26 to Nov. 28 (no session Oct. 10). Topics include the basics of pastoral care, compassionate listening, palliative care, and the grieving process. Info: moiraking@shaw.ca.
