Saint of the Day
St. Anthony of Padua
A brilliant scholar who joined the Franciscans, Anthony discovered his gift for preaching almost by accident and drew huge crowds. He defended the poor against unjust lenders and spoke so powerfully that even the inattentive were moved. Loved for his gentleness, he is invoked by people searching for what they have lost. He died young and was canonized within a year.

First Time?
You're welcome here.
Here are a few things we tell everyone before their first Sunday, so nothing feels unfamiliar.
- Can I receive Communion?
- Holy Communion is for Catholics in a state of grace who are prepared to receive it, but you are welcome to come forward with your arms crossed for a blessing, or simply stay in your pew and pray with us.
- How do I become Catholic?
- The first step towards becoming a Catholic starts with a meeting with our priest. Please call the front office or go in person to schedule a meeting.
- What should I wear?
- There is no strict dress code for attending Mass, but we encourage you to dress respectfully, as the Holy Mass is a time of sacred worship.
- I'm bringing kids.
- Please do. Little ones are always welcome. The Kenny Room, located to the right of the main entrance, is available if you fear that they will be disruptive.

St. Vincent de Paul silent begging after the Saturday 5 PM Vigil Mass on August 15 and after both Sunday morning Masses on August 16. Thank you for your continued support.
Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast after both Masses on Sunday, August 16. Net proceeds go to the victims of the Venezuelan earthquake. All are welcome!
El Shaddai gathers after the 11 AM Mass on Sunday, August 23. All are welcome.
Children's Liturgy programs: I AM SPECIAL explains God's word for children aged 3 to 6 (younger with a parent) at the Sunday 9 AM Mass, with teachers Michael & Linda Kubinec, 250-926-0187. Children's Liturgy of the Word for school-aged children is taught by Sharon Turner Rondquist. For more information about either program call 250-923-0763.
Harvest Give-Away: if you have extra fruit and vegetables, bring them to the church foyer to share.
Mary's Statue Replacement Campaign is being coordinated by the CWL. To support the project, make your donation to the CWL and indicate it is for the Mary statue replacement.
CWL Garage Sale: if you are downsizing or have unneeded items, please save them for the sale.

World Youth Day 2027 in Seoul: Fr. Joseph Yuson is organizing the diocesan pilgrimage group going to Seoul, South Korea, a gathering of more than a million young people celebrating our Catholic faith (ages 19 to 35, July 26 to August 11, 2027). HandyDart, BC Transit's door-to-door accessible service for people with permanent or temporary disabilities who cannot use fixed-route transit without assistance, has application forms available at the church office.
