Peter, the fisherman who denied Christ and was forgiven, became the rock on which the Church was built. Paul, who once persecuted Christians, was knocked to the ground and made the great missionary to the nations. Different men with one mission, both were martyred in Rome. Together they are honored as pillars of the Church.
